I feel like I've got no time at the moment, though it it obviously not true.
Going backwards. This weekend I've been at Jane's. Went down on Friday evening after work (oh that was not fun) for Sing-a-Long-a Rocky Horror (which was fun). I left work at 5:30 after having started (for a team meeting) at 8am, thought we were finishing early but apparently not. I assumed that 2 hours was plenty to go about 100 miles, all motorway. It actually took me nearly 90 minutes to go 50 miles. I turned up at Shrewsbury Music Hall 15 minutes late, having driven like (admittedly) an idiot, just in time for the film to start.
Saturday I spent the afternoon helping Jane's dad re-felt the shed roof. What a joyous task that is. Horrid stuff. I'm just glad that I didn't have to go up on the roof. I just hammered in lots of nails and held things. Saturday night was dinner at Avril and Graham's. Nice folk they are. Good food and lots of booooooze.
Sunday we went to Ludlow for the carnival. It promised big things. The weather wasn't amazing - threatening rain and sun both at once - but it held for the parade. It was a little bit feeble, all things considered. The floats and people that were there were all impressive and they obviously worked hard on it - but the quantity was lacking.
Last week... workity, sleepity, tidity. I've finished organising my life here. Everything has a home. I no longer have small random boxes in small random places. My only need now is a wardrobe, and I plan to solve that next weekend with a trip to Ikea with Jane, to pick up my favourite (and cheapest) wardrobe that they do, assuming it fits my planned hidyhole.
I've recently discovered "360 Money" thanks to a Radio 4 article. The idea is that it's a prepaid debit/credit card. I'm giving it a go as a substitute for my debit card to try and help me stop impulse purchases. There are some charges but it's only £2/mo and there's no transaction fees for the card I chose. For some card types there are charges - 25p per (some types of) transaction.
* Splash Plastic 'Pay Monthly' monthly membership fee £1.99
* Use of Credit or Debit card for online top ups £1.50
* Spash Plastic 'Pay Monthly' all Merchant Transactions Free
* ATM cash withdrawal fee £1.50
* Charge made for foreign exchange Transactions 4%
* Splash Plastic 'Pay Monthly' reactivation fee £3
A charge for paying by debit/credit card online is a pain - but doing it by paypoint is free. Weird. I'm going to load it up with £x/week and that will be my only money for that period. Obviously extras like the wardrobe will be bought "normally". Fingers crossed this will help me.
I'm sure something's happening at work tomorrow, though I don't know what...
