BBC iPlayer

Bloomin' 'eck, I think... I think it's working again! After several tortured attempts and various combinations of things to fix it, it seems that the following process is what's needed:

  1. Kill khost.exe and kservice.exe
  2. Use control panel to remove BBC iPlayer, killing kservice/khost when they restart - because they will
  3. Download kclean (found that on Sky's website) and run it
  4. Reboot PC
  5. Install BBC iPlayer again

In my case, that has fixed it and I can now download telly again though I have been in this situation before and am not-so-confident that it will stay fixed. Let's see, eh?

Now to update iTunes and see what that does to the PC....

have you got the channel 4 player thing installed as well, and if so, was it installed before iplayer?

Someone suggested uninstalling 4oD and iplayer and then installing iplayer first and then 4oD. Well, I did that, apart from reinstalling 4oD, and it seems to be ok for me

No, never had it installed.
iPlayer worked for weeks before randomly... stopping.
