I bought 2 x 2litre bottles of Dr Peper from the Spar local to work recently as I love the stuff and it was cheap (relatively), and have been steadily working away at it over the past few workdays. Only today did I notice the nutritional information on the side as I put the bottle down. The content wasn't a surprise in general, but the sugar......!!!!!!

One (standard, apparently) 150ml glass of the stuff contains 29% of an adult's recommended sugar intake for the day. So one 330ml can of the stuff contains ~60% of your recommended daily intake of sugar.

Oh my! I drank half of a 2l bottle of the stuff this afternoon. No wonder I feel like I've been smacked over the head with a shovel. It's a bit like a caffeine comedown but a lot less fun.

I think I'll forget the rest of the bottle and carry on with the water that's been doing me well for the past few months.

I imagine that it exists but I've not seen it. I prefer Diet Coke compared to coke so it may be worth checking!

i checked it out. it exists in the US, but in the UK it's coca cola who have the "local bottling rights" to Dr Pepper, and they seem to only make the real stuff and "Dr Pepper Zero". (http://www.coca-cola.co.uk/ourbrands/default.aspx?ID=41). Generally anything with Zero in the name i avoid :)

We have Diet Dr. Pepper in the states and it is only slightly more revolting than regular Dr. Pepper. I can send you some, if you want. Also Diet Moxie, another oddly flavored soda. :)

Nooo don't worry about sending any, I'm really not that bothered. Moxie sounds interesting...

I'm having similar panics. I've got a post it with my recommended dailies on the side of my PC now so I don't get lost. Computers are simpler than food. That is all :O)

Ahh, but if you try to feed doctor pepper to your PC, you're in trouble :)

I kinda swing between not caring about what I eat and trying to be healthy. Unfortunately, I think any possible healthy days are outweighed by the unhealthy days.

Soda will kill you. It's bad stuff. High fructose corn syrup will be the death of all of us. Stick w the water.

I've been raised on diet stuff - it was always diet coke in the house, never regular so don't really care for the full fat stuff. Dr Pepper and Irn Bru are two oddities for me - in that I actually like them.

But yes, soda could easily be the death of you if it's all got a similar sugar content! Death by Soda... sounds unpleasant and bubbly :)

Come to Texas and try some from where it originated. Nasty stuff.. Moxie is quite good, along with birch beer... Silly Pup!
