Today's an exciting day in my world - today I ordered a new PC :) I've been looking forward to this moment for quite a while. The current PC is one that I got from my insurance company a while back and I didn't get any choice in what I got - it works OK mostly but there are enough niggles to make me want a new one. I was looking specifically for a PC with large screen and half-decent graphics card, not much else matters and 4GB RAM seems standard on modern laptops.

I've gone for an HP Pavilion dv7-2110sa (PC World - datasheet here from HP website) - it's a refurbished model from PC world but seems like a good enough price for a not bad machine. Liked the 17.5" screen and 512MB dedicated graphics RAM. Looking at the dv7-2200 range on HP's website, they sell for quite a lot more than this one's costing and there doesn't seem to be much difference.

I was kind-of surprised when they said that they would be delivering it on New Years Day! I did question this and they specifically said that they would be delivering that day. I've asked for the Monday afterwards because we should be at my parents' that weekend, and they won't delivery to another address, boooo.

It'll be quite satisfying to get it into my hands. Just a shame I couldn't pick it up :-\
