day 6 - write 30 interesting facts about yourself.heheh, really?
1. My birthday is 10/10
2. I was at boarding school from age 8-18
3. I did a degree in Software Engineering
4. And ended up with a 3rd, mainly because in my 3rd year I had a great time
5. I am jack of many things - I know a lot of things about many things. I'm not an expert at many of them, mind
6. I hate hate hate heights. Or to be more accurate, edges. I can cope with being up high as long as I can stay away from the edge.
7. I've traveled a bit but nowhere near as much as I'd like to, and mostly to the USA.
8. I was born in Alexandria (though not Egypt)
9. I am are definitely a night-owl. If left to my own devices I slip further and further into nocturnalism.
10. I am a geek, in the techy-geek sense of the word. I love trying to make things do what I want them to do and get frustrated when things are harder than they should be.
11. I have a fairly clear sense of what is right & wrong, though by no means do I think these things are absolute.
12. I have never lived in the same house for more than 3yrs
13. My dad was in the navy, a submariner. For as long as I remember, there have been 3 months absences.
14. I am an active on-stage member of a musical theatre company and am not gay :) </stereotype>
15. As part of this I have had several large roles within some of the shows we've done
16. I know more than I care to know about security and CCTV products in general thanks to my employer.
17. I went through a stage when I was living on my own where I was going to the cinema to see 3 or 4 films a week. I had a Cineworld unlimited card and made damn good use of it.
18. I can get hooked on some things far too easily. World of Warcraft sucked a year of my life away, playing for 6hrs a day on a workday was not unusual, double that on a weekend.
19. I've tried most online social networking sites that seem to be doing the rounds, and still think that twitter is the best (as in, most useful, best interface - despite this "new twitter" crap) and most easily accessible.
20. I've been using the internet since 1995 when my dad got a PC and put Windows 95 on it.
21. While he was away I managed to break his modem one time so it wouldn't dial up, not sure how. In fixing it I learned more about how things worked that ever before. I now believe this is truly the best way to learn how anything works. Unless you've broken something in every way possible you can't really understand it.
22. I don't have any religious beliefs.
23. I don't tend to express my opinions on a lot of "stuff", because I don't believe that my opinion is necessarily worth expressing. This is one reason why I dislike newspaper opinion pieces.
24. I have kept blogs on and off for about 14yrs in various places. I read back through them now and cringe :-)
25. I have met several famous people, my favourite one being Chris Barrie! He was quite nice and chatty.
26. I once spoke to Vadin Jean - the director of Leon the Pig Farmer (and others) while working at T-Mobile customer service :)
27. I loved working for T-Mobile - even in a call centre. They were good employers. I was so heartbroken when they sold us to TSC and hated working for that bunch of cheapskates.
28. I cook. I'm quite adventurous with it too, and enjoy it. My favourite is probably Thai green curry even if it is a hassle to prepare.
29. I also bake, again I try to be adventurous. I've recently done an absolutely gorgeous carrot cake based on a recipe from the Women's Institute books :)
30. This meme feels like an excuse not to go to bed now :-)
