Went to see Valiant the yesterday, and well I was impressed with it and bored by it in equal doses.
It was very short (about 75mins by my reckoning), had some quite funny bits, some quite rude bits and some bits which made me yawn. I wouldn't go to see it again but it wasn't a wasted evening. On Saturday evening Jane and I went to see Be Cool. This was very enjoyable and very funny, with a few cringeworthy bits (John Travolta and Uma Thurman dancing again), and the Rock taking the mickey out of himself by playing a gay bodyguard with desires to go into dancing/acting! Silly.
It's only 11 days now until N-day (the 19th May, assessment day). I've been reading lots and even gone so far as to find liveATC.net - a site which allows you to listen in to various ATC frequencies around the world. Silly silly silly, but quite interesting! Also downloaded ATCC simulator from a random website which has given me some ideas of things to ask people, which is where I'm a little stuck.
I'm enjoying playing Medieval - Total War. I did OK at the tutorials but failing miserably at the reak thing. Think I need more practice!

also Heathrow tower is 118.70 for landings and 118.50 for departures.
is it Swanwick you want to work at, or back in Scotland (Prestwick?)...
I have spent 2 weeks at Swanwick, supposedly doing work experience but actually just being nosy, one of my mum's friends was involved in the building project and got me in there, but IBM/Loral were still trying to fix the software then and it wasn't operational. I also went to Hurn (the college) for a day, and to LATCC (Latsea) in West Drayton..... now they have some OLD systems compared to Swanwick!! some really big boss in NATS told me to come back and apply for the proper job when i was old enough but apparently my eyesight would never have been good enough anyway....

I can do VORs, QNHs sound familiar (something to do with pressure and altimiters?), but STARs?
I'd love to work at Atlantic Control or Scottish ACC in Prestwick, but obviously there's a long way to go yet :)

at busier airports its just a reference because the aircraft are manually "steered" by the ATC to ensure maximum use of the airspace and avoid delays. but along with the SID (standard instrument departure) they are the preferred inbound/outbound tracks to keep everything running smoothly and avoid conflicts...

D'oh. Far too many acronyms in this world. In a training course at work a little while ago someone asked us to write all the acronyms we used on a daily basis. That was scary :)

sounds much too stressy for me anyway!
